Public Works Turning Lemons Pink

Pink Lemonade Stand Will Raise Money to Fight Breast Cancer

September 6, 2017

TUPELO, MS – The idea started with a brief conversation.

Public Works Director Chuck Williams mentioned to Kristeen Rush, the department’s office manager that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The department decided to come together and help raise the level of awareness locally.

“I came up with the idea of having a lemonade stand at Fairpark, serving pink lemonade for donations and passing out flyers that will be about Breast Cancer: What You Need to Know,” Kristeen said.

The stand goes up from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., October 6, in Fairpark.

But that’s not all.

We will have family members, breast cancer survivor and City of Tupelo employees to help participate, she said. She also expects assistance from NMMC Breast Care Center on the project.

At least 60,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.  Follow this link for more information.
