Tupelo Transit to Unveil on August 22

TUPELO, MISS. – Tupelo’s pilot public transportation system will make its debut to the public at 1:30 p.m., August 22, in Fairpark in front of City Hall.


The Tupelo Transit Committee approved the unveiling during its meeting Tuesday afternoon. The committee also approved the logo and routes released to them in handouts on Tuesday afternoon.


Buses will begin running for its 13-month pilot program on September 4 at 5:30 a.m. from Tupelo Transit’s local office at the Link Centre on West Main. The first month of rides is free. After that, the cost will be $2 per rider.


Focus groups are scheduled to meet later this week as the Tupelo Transit Committee and its partners continue to refine the project.
