The City of Tupelo Department of Parks and Recreation strives to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Tupelo by providing professionally designed comprehensive recreation and leisure programs and services.

To accomplish this mission, the Department:

Maintains safe, well-managed facilities and programs to ensure opportunities for participation by all.

Athletic Facilities

Bel-Air Golf Course

Bel-Air Golf Course is a nine-hole regulation length golf course in Tupelo, built in 1936. This short layout will reward good shots and provide a fun golf outing for everyone.

Ballard Park Pavilions

Ballard West is on the west side of Ballard Park and is available for a daily rental fee of $100 or half-day for a rental fee of $50. It seats about 75-100 people, and has a small grill, electricity and water. Ballard East is a smaller pavilion located on the east side of the park. It seats 20, and the daily rental fee is $50. It has a small grill, but no electricity or water. Other picnic tables are scattered through the park and are available at no charge.

Ballard Park Gazebo

The gazebo by the lake is available for rental for a daily fee of $50. This is used chiefly for weddings and church events.

Ballard Stage

Ballard Stage is available for rent. Please contact Deana Carlock at 662-841-6440 for more information.

Veterans Park

Located at 800 Veteran's Blvd. in Tupelo, Veterans Park has two small pavilions for rent. The Veterans Pavilion is accessible from Elvis Presley Drive, seats about 40-50 people, and has electricity and water. The Veterans Memorial Pavilion (octagon-shaped) is accessible from Veterans Boulevard, seats 30-35 and has no electricity or water. Both are available for daily rentals of $100 or for a half-day at $50.

Gumtree Park

This park, located at 683 Front St., has one pavilion for rent on the east side of the park. It seats about 40-50 people and has electricity and water. The daily rental is $100 or for a half-day at $50.

Rockwell Center

Rockwell is a two-room facility with a small kitchen, located at 1199 Joyner Ave., Tupelo. It has tables and chairs for 100 people. Call 662-841-6440 for rates. To reserve the Rockwell Center, please email Deana Carlock or call 662-841-6440.

C. C. Augustus Center

Augustus Center, 1400 N. Green St., Tupelo, is a one-room facility with a small kitchen, including stove and refrigerator. It has tables and chairs for 75 people. The daily rental fee is $100, plus a $100 damage deposit. For reservations, please email Deana Carlock or call 662-841-6440.

Bel-Air Senior Recreation Center

Located at 2107 Country Club Road, the Bel-Air Center rental fee includes two large rooms, full kitchen, ice machine, patio area, 15 round tables, two 6-foot rectangular tables, five 8-foot rectangular tables and chairs for 100 people.

Rental cost is $400 with a $125 damage deposit. For Bel-Air reservations, please call Director Pat Clark at 662-841-3791. Office hours are Monday, 9 a.m. - Noon; Tuesday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; and Thursday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please leave a message after hours.

Leisure Service Guide



Tupelo Parks and Recreation offers a variety of youth and adult sports to members of our community. Our youth sports create the opportunity to learn fundamental skills and sportsmanship. The adult sports allow a setting to compete and socialize with other members of the community.

We offer baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, flag football and tennis as youth sports. Softball and kickball are available for adults.

Tupelo Parks and Recreation schedules community events throughout the year, including:

  • NOLEPUT - Noleput is a New Orleans-style street festival taking place on Friday, April 15, from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 16, 2 - 10 p.m. Location for the event is 213 Clark St. at The Ice House (Silver Moon Club) Admission is free however there will be food and beverage vendors on site. Please come out and enjoy live music, food and fun!

  • Krewe of Barkus - Krewe of Barkus is a pet parade in celebration of Mardi Gras. We encourage you, your families and your pets to dress up in true festive Mardi Gras attire. You have the opportunity to design floats using wagons and vehicles of all types in celebration of “Fat Tuesday!” Bring beads, dog toys etc. to throw out into the crowd. This event takes place Saturday, February 6 at 10 a.m. at Veteran’s Park.

  • Children's Fishing Rodeo - Will be held April 9, at Veterans Park. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, bait, tackle, and the whole family. Children ages 3-15 can participate from 8:30 a.m. - Noon, and then the event will open to the public. This is a great event for the entire family! FREE event!

  • Summer Day Camp - We create opportunities for fun, adventure and learning in a safe, healthy, supervised outdoor/indoor program. This program is for children that have completed kindergarten through the completion of fifth grade, not to exceed 11 years of age. Six weeks of fun held at Church Street Elementary School.
    • Registration: May 3 (until full)
    • Cost:
      • $45 per week per child (city residents)
      • $40 per week per child (two or more in family, city residents)
      • $50 per week per child (non-city residents)
    • Camp Starts: June 6
    • Camp Ends: July 5
    • Closed July 4

    Summer camp will be closed the week of June 29 - July 3.

  • All-America City Family Picnic in the Park - The biggest 4th of July celebration in North Mississippi is here in Tupelo. The crowds get larger each year with all the activities packed into this event. There is prime entertainment for all ages, a variety of food in the vendor food court area and fun activities for the kids. This year come to Fairpark and celebrate with all of your friends and neighbors. This year’s event will be held July 4.

  • Super Fun Day - This event is held at Robin's Field and is open to all day camps, church camps, child care facilities, learning centers, home school and individuals of the community. (ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT) Call our office at 662.841.6440 to get in on this Super Summer Event.

  • Touch-A-Truck - This program is designed to allow children to touch, climb, and explore trucks and heavy machinery and to learn what purpose the vehicle serves in our community. Vehicles of all types will be on site at Ballard Park. The various staff of the vehicles will be present for your children to ask questions and satisfy their curiosities. The location and time of this event is to be announced but it will still take place Saturday, September 10, from 10am-1pm. This is a free event and great for the whole family!

  • Family Campout at Veterans Park - The camp out will be held at Veterans Park behind the J.T. Neely Center on Friday September 30. All the fun begins at 4pm with our check in. Bring your tents and sleeping bags and you’ll be ready to take part in all the activities. Whether you are a seasoned camper or a newbie, this camp out is for you! Cost for the Family Fun Camp out is $5.00 per person. Children under age 2 are FREE. To register contact TPRD at 662-841-6440 or pick up your packet on August 11, 2014.

  • The Tupelo Aquatic Center will turn into the Great Floating Pumpkin Patch in October. Kids can pick a pumpkin from our in-water pumpkin patch. Participants will swim around the pool and pick the pumpkin that suits their fancy. Kids can enjoy harvest relay races, the pumpkin roll and more. Pre-registration is required. This event will take place October.

  • Halloween Egg Hunt/Trick or Treat - Bring all your little spooks out to the Tupelo Cross Country Trail on October 27 at 6 pm for the Halloween Egg Hunt and Trunk or Treat. There will be an egg hunt with toys and candy and trunks full of candy. This event is for children 12 and under. Admission for the Halloween Egg Hunt is one bag of candy per family. Don’t forget your flashlights! Volunteers are needed to decorate trunks – prizes will be given out for the best decorated trunk. For more information, please call 662-841-6440

  • Citywide Sidewalk Sale - One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Purchase a 10 X 10 green space for $30 and turn all that clutter into CASH! The City Wide Sidewalk Sale will be held Saturday, April 9 at Veteran’s Park! You can begin purchasing your green space on February 1. Vendors are responsible for your own tents, tables and transporting merchandise to your space from the parking lot. Contact Shanta Jones at 662.841.6440 for more information.

  • Zombie Fun Run - The Zombie Fun Run is open to kids of all ages, however, kids under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. This event will take place Saturday, October 15, at the Tupelo Cross Country Trail at the Ballard Park. Pre-Registration fee is $15 (Sept. 6-30) and includes a t-shirt. After Sept. 30, the registration fee will be $20, until the day of the run. Registration the day of the run will be 5:30 - 6:30 p. m. and the fee will be $25. Individuals who register late or the day of the race will not be guaranteed a t-shirt. The race will begin at 7:15 p. m.

    Volunteers are needed for the race, so if you would like to be a zombie or help with zombie make-up, contact Deana Carlock at (662) 841-6440.

  • Barktoberfest - The BarktoberFest will be held Saturday, October 15, at the Tupelo Bark Park. This event is tailor made for pets and their families to play, seek pet information and products and enjoy all things…DOG!!! Come enjoy music, food and vendors.   • The Annual Christmas Lighting of Ballard Park and Oren Dunn Museum - This event includes local school choirs, open house at Tupelo Parks and Recreation, train rides and the annual toy exhibit at the Oren Dunn Museum. This event also includes an opportunity for a meet and greet and photos with the Grinch. The Lighting will take place Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 p. m.
