The goal of the Public Works Department is to enhance the quality of life in Tupelo by providing outstanding public service.

The Public Works Department has an average of 72 dedicated employees, with occasional temporary and seasonal employment opportunities.

The Public Works Department consists of the following divisions: Traffic Control and Street Maintenance, Drainage Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, Property Maintenance, Brush and Street Cleanup, Major Thoroughfare Program, Rights-of-Way, and Grounds and Mosquito Control.
