Major Thoroughfare Program
- It is the purpose of the Major Thoroughfare Program to present a comprehensive and concise plan designed to construct a major thoroughfare system of streets which will accommodate existing and projected needs on a level sufficient to insure continued economic growth and quality of life for the citizens of the City of Tupelo.
- This program addresses not only needs for which the City is responsible but the needs for which the state and the federal governments are responsible and/or will be asked to assist.
- This program addresses not only current needs but needs for the near and long term future. Strategies are provided for complete implementation of the program.
- Phase One began in 1992 The Major Thoroughfare Program is currently in Phase Four with an approximate budget of $22,000,000.00.
Drainage Task Force
- The Drainage Task Force is comprised of citizens appointed by the Mayor and the City Council to focus on major drainage issues within the City.
