Fire Marshal’s Office
One of the ways Tupelo Fire Department helps the community is by either keeping emergencies from happening, or by limiting the effects of them when they do happen. We acomplish this by implementing the five E’s of Community Risk Reduction: Education, Engineering, Enforcement, Economic Incentives, and Emergency Response.
Tupelo Fire Department provides both fire and general safety education for all ages free of charge.
The Fire Department & the City of Tupelo strive to keep all buildings safe by working together from plan-review to issuing a Certificate of Occupancy.
Over 3,000 Inspections are done every year to ensure Tupelo’s businesses are safe for both employees, and patrons alike.
Tupelo Fire Department partners with other entities such as the Red Cross, and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office to provide free smoke detectors to 1- and 2-family homes free of charge. We also offer free fire extinguisher training for business, and safety evaulations.
The Fire Department has a history of being one of the top fire departments in the State. Each member averages over 200 hours of training per year. The Department also has the capability to respond to incidents involving medical emergencies, hazardous material spills, water rescues, confined spaces, high angles, structural collapse, and missing persons.
